Welcome to the first Sustainable Development for all webinar on Thursday the 11th of April 2019 from 10 AM to 11:30 AM (Helsinki / Dar es Salaam)
The webinar will focus on inclusive social development, social protection systems and the importance of gender issues as crosscutting themes.
The webinar gives an opportunity to link the recent UN meetings (CSocD and CSW) and the forthcoming High-Level Political Forum, where Tanzania will present its first Voluntary National Report (VNR) in July.

Speakers:
Professor Marjorie Mbliniyi
Marjorie Mbliniyi is retired Professor of Education from the University of Dar es Salaam and has extensive experience in participatory organizing, pedagogy and research at national and community level, linked to feminist advocacy and activism. She is the founder of several feminist organizations and networks in Tanzania and Africa, including the Tanzania Gender Networking Programme, the Feminist Activist Coalition, and Gender and Economic Reforms in Africa, (GERA).
Hanna Onwen-Huma
Hanna Onwen-Huma has extensive experience on gender equality questions. She has worked with gender equality issues within the Finnish government for the past 17 years. The unit is responsible for preparing and developing the Government’s gender equality policy. Ms. Onwen-Huma has represented the government of Finland at the UN Commission on the Status of Women since 2003. Ms. Onwen-Huma holds a master’s degree in Sociology.
Timo Voipio
Timo Voipio is the co-leader of the EU Social Protection Systems (EU-SPS) Programme in Helsinki, leading on the EU-SPS implementation strategy and partnerships. He is on leave of absence from his position as Senior Adviser for global social policy at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. He is now Chief Specialist at THL, the Government of Finland’s expert institute for social and health policy.
Timo has over 20 years of experience working in social protection and development cooperation, both at country level and in global expert networks of the OECD, EU, AU, UN, World Bank, ILO, ISSA and ICSW. He worked in Tanzania in the early and late 1990s and early 2000s, and then for the ILO (International Social Security Association ISSA) in Geneva 2007-2009. He has shorter term country experience from several countries in Africa and Asia during the past 30 years. He is member of and a broker between leading international networks of academic scholars and practitioners working on global and national social policy, social protection, decent work, disability and social development.
Timo holds a PhD in Social Policy from the University of Eastern Finland (UEF), an MA in Economic and Social History from the University of Helsinki and a Professional Diploma in Journalism from the Sanoma Corporation School of Journalism.
