YK:n nuorisoedustaja vierailee Suomessa. Tervetuloa Nuoret 2030 - Nuoret demokratian voimavarana -tilaisuuteen!
Viime vuonna tehtävään nimitetty Jayathma Wickramanayake on järjestyksessään toinen YK:n nuorisoedustaja. Hänen työnsä pääteemoja ovat demokratian edistäminen ja nuorten, varsinkin nuorten naisten, osallisuus.
Tässä keskustelutilaisuudessa Suomessa vieraileva Wickramanayake kertoo työstään ja tavoista edistää näitä teemoja, ja suomalaiset edustajat kertovat nuorten osallistumisesta ja osallistamisesta paikallisten esimerkkien kautta. Tärkeänä teemana on myös Nuoret, rauha ja turvallisuus (2250) -päätöslauselma, jonka edistämisessä suomalainen kansalaisyhteiskunta on ollut merkittävässä roolissa. Wickramanayake osallistuu juuri ennen vierailuaan päätöslauselmaa koskevaan YK:n turvallisuusneuvoston kuulemiseen.
Tilaisuudessa lanseerataan myös Kirkon Ulkomaanavun Youth on the Move -raportti. Valtaosa maailman nuorista asuu kehittyvissä maissa, missä nuorten osallistumismahdollisuuksia ei useinkaan huomioida. Kaikkein haastavinta osallistuminen on nuorille, jotka ovat liikkeessä.

Event with UN Youth Envoy Jayathma Wickramanayake: Youth 2030 - Youth as a resource for democracy
UN Youth Envoy will visit Finland. Welcome to the event "Youth 2030 - Youth as a resource for democracy"!
Jayathma Wickramanayake is UN Youth Envoy appointed by the Secretary General, and has served since June 2017. The main themes of her work are promotions of democracy and promotion of youth participation, especially the inclusion of young women.
In this meeting Wickramanayake will tell about her work as the Youth Envoy, and about the ways these themes are promoted. Finnish participants will present examples of youth participation and inclusion from their perspectives. An important themes is also the Security Council resolution number 2250 (Youth, Peace and Security), that has been widely promoted also by the Finnish civil society. Before her visit in Finland, Wickramanayake will participate in a hearing of the Security Council on the resolution.
This event will also be the launch of the Youth on the move -report of Finn Church Aid. The majority of young people in the world live in developing countries, where the possibilities of participation of youth are often not taken weill in to consideration. This is even bigger a challenge to young people on the move.
